Learning to swing is probably one of the most exciting skills we ever learn in our lives. As well as developing balance and strengthening muscles it can also provoke children into imagining that they are a variety of flying creatures. If you think about the progression of learning to swing you will realise that it takes a great deal of physical skill and dexterity to be able to swing independently. With young children you will have to place them on the swing and push them, as they get older they will be able to climb on the swing themselves and then propel themselves up in the air.
